Pallet Rack

Pallet racking is one of the storage system available at Multi Rack, it is commonly used in warehouses, distribution centers, and industrial facilities to optimise space and efficiently organise inventory. Multi Rack offer a measure and quote service, whereby measuring the available floorspace, we can determine the optimal rack configuration to meet storage needs so that safety is paramount in a productive workspace.

Multi Rack offers a Pallet Rack installation service, this consist of, the installation of the pallet racking, certification, weight rating stickers, safety pins, safety signs, post protectors and or end barriers depending on the location of the racking. If pallet racking is installed where there is pedestrian access behind it, it will require fall protection, this can be done with posts, rails and mesh or barrier beams and mesh depending on brands.

Pallet racking is required under AS4084 to have a yearly inspection. Multi Rack offer an inspection/certification service as well. It is a critical process that ensures the structural integrity and safety of industrial storage systems. The inspection/certification process typically involves a thorough inspection by a competent person who examines the racks construction, weight capacities and overall condition. They’ll check for any signs of damage, wear or instability, that could compromise the racks’ ability to safely support their loads. Inspections and Certification

AS4084.2024 requires Inspections to be done every 12 months, as well as, when racking is re-configured or re-positioned. If you change the use of a rack, for example you raise your beam heights etc, it must be inspected and certified fit for purpose. MultiRack can inspect and certify your racking to help you stay compliant and maintain a safe workplace. We can inspect multiple brands of pallet racking within a site visit. (Maxiload, Spacerack, Dexion, Colby, Macrack and many more) If your racking is an imported brand then it may not be possible to certify or there could be extra cost associated with getting an engineering report on the specification of the racking.

Load Ratings

Load Ratings are required for all pallet racking as per the Australian Standards. Once data is collected, precise calculations are done specific to your workplace design, a safety sign will be drawn up compliant with AS4084-2012 or 2023. The Australian Standard AS4084 – 2023 requires beam load ratings be visible on a safety sign attached to your pallet racking. We highly recommend the beam stickers as well, as these are more visible to forklift operators.

Pallet Rack Post Protectors

Multi Rack has Pallet Rack Post Protectors that have been designed and tested in Australia to AS4084-2012. These Post protectors have been tested with the masonry anchors. (Tested and are certified as per test report ER12028).

Pallet Rack Safety Signage

To ensure the safety of workers and under AS4084 it is a requirement to have safety signs attached to your pallet racking, The safety signs offer clear and concise instructions, warnings and guidance to personnel navigating the storage systems. The safety signs indicate the load carrying capacities of the total bay and the maximum load carrying capacities of the varies beams used within the racking system. Multi Rack can supply safety signs for all racking inspected, the weight rating supplied on our safety signs are with the tolerances provided by each individual supplier depending on the brand of pallet racking installed.

Beam Weight Ratings

Pallet rack beam weight ratings can vary significantly based on factors such as dimensions and construction of the beams themselves, whether they have mesh decks or ply decks added etc. Warehouse managers must carefully match these ratings to the specific inventory and storage requirements of their operation, leaving an appropriate safety margin to prevent overloading and potential failures. Multi Rack offer mesh decks and can cut our plywood to size to suit most applications, we also carry a range of pallet rack support bars, these offer extra support, security and increased weight ratings when used under plywood decks. We provide weight ratings with all our pallet racking including weight rating stickers.

Pallet Rack Plywood Decks

At Multi Rack we only use the Black faced plywood in 17/18mm or 25mm depending on the weight ratings required. Our plywood has a hardwood core and a WBP glue line, this is a water-resistant glue that creates an incredibly strong and durable bond, ensuring it can withstand moisture, heat and other environmental stresses without compromising its integrity. At Multi Rack we believe in using a product that can withstand our humid climate and offer longevity to our customers.

Pallet Rack Shelf Supports

Shelf supports are highly recommended when adding plywood decks to your pallet racking. They offer additional weight carrying capacities and provide retention of the decks on the beams. Support bars come as standard S types that are flat or R types that offer a retaining lip.

Pallet Rack Repairs and Installations

The proactive maintenance of pallet racking not only ensures the safety of your personnel but increase the longevity of your pallet racking. Repair may entail tightening hardware, replacing damaged parts, or in some cases, reconfiguring the entire racking system to bring it back up to safety standards. Multi Rack have qualified personnel that can provide the repairs required, offer proactive advice on how to reduce damage and do installation on new and used pallet racking to ensure it meets AS4084.

Racking Relocation and or Reconfiguration

You may be able to repurpose your existing racking when relocating to another location or when moving within your workplace, we are more than happy to offer advice if required.

Single End Barriers and Double End Barriers for Pallet Racking

We can supply single or double end barriers for pallet racking, these are available in orange or Gal depending on your application. Highly Recommended for High Traffic flow area’s.

USED Pallet Racks when available

Multi Rack occasionally has stock of used pallet racking that meets AS4084, this offers an economical alternative to purchasing new racking, with the older non-compliant racking we may have available we repurpose it into workbenches or shelving. How to Measure Length of beams “Keylock”

It is important to be very accurate as there are many Dexion type beams around that will be 5, 10, 20, 30mm & many other measurements different in length.

ALSO with the vertical pitch, there are some non genuine racks around with 75mm, 150mm pitch, see information in box on left.
